At times of change in our lives, it is often helpful to talk through problems with another person, and to gain support for those processes which we have begun. Friends can help greatly in this, but people often benefit from professional help to find a path through their struggles.
I am an experienced counsellor with over 20 years in private practice, as well as having worked in the voluntary sector and in professional organisations. I am also a qualified Embodied-Relational Therapy (ERT) practitioner. This type of therapy gives great respect to the client's process - the client is in charge of what is going on. Although each session will vary, depending on the needs of each individual, I try to bring a sense of the client's own ability to trust themself and their own strengths. ERT incorporates aspects of relationship work and of awareness of physical tensions as well as the normal range of counselling skills.
