What are the requirements for standard bank learnership? ›

Have completed Grade 12 (matric) or a 3-year post grade 12 (matric) qualification (role dependent) Be computer literate. Not be permanently employed. Not be studying at another tertiary institution.

It consists of 4 stages, stage 1 is the psychometric test consisting of 3 tests, Stage 2 is the hr interview focused on your personality, career goals and strength and weakness. Stage 3 is the in-person psychometric test, to test how you think. Stage 4 is the assessment centre.

Who are Eligible for Learnerships? Learnerships are designed to help young people start their careers, so you must be between 15 and 35 years old to qualify. In general, you don't need a matric to apply for a learnership, but you need to have Grade 10, been to college or had some learning at a training institution.

Learnerships are available for young people who are just leaving school, college or other training institutions after completing some formal education, and for people who have been unemployed for some time. People entering a learnership must be at least 16 years old and younger than 35 years.

You will be paid a stipend – this will not be equivalent to a full time salary but should at least cover your transport and meals. There's no guarantee at the end of the learnership that the company will employ you.

During the interview, be prepared to provide specific examples from your previous experience that demonstrate your skills and suitability for the role. Show enthusiasm, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. And also, don't neglect your appearance because you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Unlike an internship which involves an agreement between an employer or company and the intern, a learnership contract involves an employer, you the learner, and a training provider.
